Diego's 1st Christmas

Here is Diego on Christmas eve, in his cute jammies I found last March, so glad I chose the right size and they look so cute on him!

On Christmas morning, Diego woke up at 6 am, which is pretty early for him and I would usually try to get him back to sleep, but Eddie and I were so excited for him to see his presents that we decided to just get up. I finally got a cute picture of him in front of the tree.

We were really lucky because he was generally disinterested in the tree the whole time it was in the house. He would stop by it a time or two and mess with the lights or the soft ornaments I purposely put on the bottom, but he mainly just crawled on by.

He wasn't super interested in opening presents after the first 1 or 2, and of course much more interested in the bows and wrapping paper than anything else!

A classic bow-on-head picture, love it!

Diego was absolutely spoiled for Christmas. He got all kinds of neat toys that light up and make noise, which he loves! He got a few books, some puzzles, a new red jacket and even his first savings bond!

Our favorite Christmas present (well, a few days after, on the 27th) was watching Diego stand up alone for the first time (for a significant period of time). He was drinking from his cup and stood there for a good 5 seconds or so. This is the best picture I could get of him standing. Later that day, Eddie and I were playing with him and I thought we should just go ahead and try to see if he might take a step or two. Eddie stood him up towards me and steadied him in a standing position and he totally took 2 or 3 steps and fell into me. Then, he did it again back to Daddy and again back to me! We were so excited and he was clapping right along with us! He did it again for Auntie Erica, Uncle Bryan, and Cousins Hank, Olivia and Jagger, but when he's done, he's done and he won't stand up anymore! I hope to catch some steps on video soon and some more of him standing, but so far I've just been selfishly enjoying it all myself without running for the camera. :)

Ten Months

Diego is 10 months today! He does more and more each day to make us laugh. He started doing this with his hands quite frequently, we're not sure where he picked it up, but its pretty funny. He will squish his cheeks together and make silly faces too.Diego is really enjoying exploring the house and Daddy and I are constantly following him around. He has moved from scooting to doing some real crawling and a modified crawl on the hard floors so only one knee supports his weight. He has also started pulling himself up to standing on some toys, his crib, the pack and play and most importantly, my legs! When he wants me to pick him up he just starts pulling himself up my leg, its pretty funny. A few days ago, he even crawled up on top of a Rubbermaid Tote I had in the kitchen. He was SO EXCITED! He is enjoying new foods and when he wants a bit he says "Mmm, mmm" which we just love. He loves raisins, cheerios, gerber puffs, cooked apple pieces, eggo waffles, mac n cheese, and english muffins, or whatever else we will give him a bit of~! I enjoy watching him improve his motor skills every day. He drops fewer and fewer of his finger foods each day and seems very proud of himself! He will also try to imitate sounds we make. Enjoying some story time with Daddy! Daddy read a book first, then Diego was looking at his.
Diego looks at his books so intently and turns the pages as best he can, almost like he's reading them. You can't tell in this picture, but the one he's looking at is upside down. :) I hope he continues to enjoy books as much as he does now. He will sit and just look at them for several minutes at a time.

Santa, Snow and the Christmas Tree

We've been livin' up Christmas style around our house lately! We've even got snow on the ground right now! Just in the last week we have taken Diego to get our Christmas tree (it was COLD and WINDY), Decorated the house for Christmas, took Diego to see Santa, and played in the snow!
I think this year we picked the best tree we ever have!
Diego wasn't too interested in Santa. He studied him for a minute when I set him on his lap, but then he was much more interested in finding his binky and putting it back in his mouth. I think he was afraid the big guy in red might steal it! I fully expected Diego to scream when I put him on Santa's lap, only because I remember sitting in Lancaster mall YEARS ago with my nephew Hank as a toddler and him freaking out when Santa walked up and said hello to him. I guess Diego will probably have his scared moment of Santa later.
I was so excited to see snow on the ground when we got up yesterday. Of course it was gone by 10 am, but around 4 o'clock it started coming down again and we got a good few inches. While it was still fresh we went outside so Diego could see it. He didn't even mind how cold it was! Thank goodness Aunt Tonia got him this snowsuit! When I set him down to take the pictures he tried to crawl away, but Chloe and I caught him!

9 Months Old.

Having a baby changes your life. More than anyone could ever describe to you and until you experience it for yourself you just don't know. My life now is so full. Full of love for my husband and child. Full of love for my family and friends. Full of laughs and smiles. Full of challenges and obstacles. But so full, that my heart just over flows every day with gratitude and thankfulness for all the wonderful things that having a baby has brought to my life.

9 months ago today, the NEW love of my life was born. I ask myself, could 9 months have really flown by already? Seems like just yesterday I was holding a tiny baby in my arms wondering why they let me bring him home from the hospital, because I just knew that somehow I was going to mess things up for him. And you know what? I'm sure I have, but we're learning together. Just now, after 9 months, I am starting to feel like maybe I can be a good Mom. I still spend a lot of time just looking at my sweet sweet child and knowing how miraculous it is to bring a child into the world. I am so blessed to be a stay home Mom, this is not something all Mother's can do and I do not take it for granted.

This last month has brought so many new things for us! Diego is on the move now, constantly. I know I said this last month too, but really there is just no stoppin' him now. He's even pulled himself to standing a few times. Eddie caught him the first time he did it in his crib, so I didn't get a picture of that. We of course then had to move the mattress to the bottom so he didn't fall out! The poor little guy has had some serious teething going on this month too. I even took him to the doctor because he was so upset 3 nights in a row in the middle of the night. The Dr says he's cutting 4 teeth on top, all at the same time. I feel so bad for him, but we've discovered that baby Motrin and Teething Tablets work really well. We got some new farm refrigerator magnets, and he will sit and play with them for about 2 mintues (or less) before he's off to explore something else! He loves to just sit and watch Chloe (our dog) eat her food, but I don't usually let him. He likes to pick up the little pieces and although right now he's not really into putting things like that in his mouth, you never know. And I really don't want him eating ABC (already been chewed) dog food! We've had lots of fun just staying around the house. Who knew sitting in a laundry basket could be so fun? Or "Helping" Daddy vaccuum? Or even laughing so hard he screamed while I was making my bed!!

First Haircut

I put this day off for as long as I could. People have started to wonder whether Diego is a girl or a boy, even whe he's in all blue, so I figured it was time for a haircut. It made me sad, because I feel like it was part of his sweet charm, but the poor little guy has had to push his hair out of his eyes all the time and I was starting to feel guilty for holding on to the hair. This is our "before" picture. Yes, I'm taking it of us in the mirror. See the one curl on the top? That's what we saved.

This is our "during" picture. He did amazing for an 8 month old baby. I love the expression on his face here!

And here he is in the "after" picture. He looks so cute! And now he looks more like a little boy, and less like a baby. Exactly what I was afraid of, but I have my pictures and a lock of his hair to remember and I have to keep telling myself that hair does grow back.

Halloween!

Diego was a Zebra for Halloween and he had a great time!

He didn't mind wearing his costume at all and did a great job posing for a ton of pictures. We went trick-or-treating with his Cousin Jagger, the Black Spiderman. Lucky for Jagger, everyone wanted to give Diego candy, so Jagger got extra!!My 17 year old nephew plays football and if you know me, you know I like to go to all the home games and this year I tried once and had to leave because Diego was upset. He had his last home game on Halloween night, so I thought we'd give it another shot. This time, Diego did pretty good and took a good snooze while I watched the game!

The Pumpkin Patch

Last Saturday, Diego and I met our friends Kari & Ava and Ashley & Jordan at the Pumpkin Patch! We had a great afternoon wandering through Bauman Farms and the babies had fun taking it all in. All three babies picked out a mini-gourd to carry around the farm and they loved it. They are even starting to interact with each other a little bit, which is so sweet. They weren't old enough for all the fun activities going on, but maybe next year!!

Jordan, Diego and Ava on a wooden swing!!

Ava grabbed Diego's hand, it was very cute!

This was my favorite picture of Diego from the day, he's getting so big, I can't believe it!
