Sprained Ankle

I'm not sure why, but every mother I know (including myself) takes pictures of their children doing naughty things before they tell them to stop. So here is Diego, a blur in mid-air, jumping off the couch around Christmas time. He began doing this around 16 months of age or so and at first we didn't tell him no because he was obsessed with doing it and well, I guess we were just lazy. Within the last 4 or 5 months we have instated "time out" and have told him that if he jumps off the couch he would go to time out. We knew he could understand and we were worried he would hurt himself. Today, that happened. He jumped off the chair in the front room (matches the couch so same height and everything) and his ankle gave out and he did a face plant on the floor. He had by now mastered this art of being naughty and jumping off the couch and landing on his feet, so not landing was a big shocker to him! He was limping a little but stopped crying relatively quickly so I decided I would wait until after his nap to decide whether or not to call the doctor. After naptime, he was still limping. I couldn't see any swelling or bruising, but I called the doctor and took him in. She said he has a mild sprain in is left foot and it should go away over the next few days. So, my 2 year old sprained his ankle. Sheesh. I'm sure this is only the beginning of what its like to have a boy.

LAZY!?!?! HA!!! You are not lazy! You are a mother to a busy, busy boy!!! Your son is just trying to give you gray hair before you turn 30!!!

Poor little guy. Sounds like he's handling it pretty well though.

Oh man, poor guy! Tyler broke his leg at 16 months old on the playground, so I feel your pain. I hope he feels better soon!

He is a jumper! It only takes once, sometimes twice for them to learn :)
